Meet the Experts
Dr. Steven Casey is a professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Professor Casey completed his undergraduate studies at the University of East Anglia before relocating to Oxford, where he earned an M.Phil. and then a D.Phil. in International Relations. Casey is a specialist on U.S. foreign policy and author of multiple books surrounding U.S. politics and policy. His book, When Soldiers Fall: How Americans have Debated Combat Casualties, from World War I to the War on Terror (Oxford University, 2014) won the Neustadt Prize, as did his book Selling the Korean War, which also won the Truman Book Award for best book in American Politics. Professor Casey was also the recipient of numerous Grants such as a 2009 Mathew Ridgway Grant for research at the U.S. Military History Institute in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, a 2011 Moody Grant from the Lyndon Johnson Library, and a 2013 Research Grant from the Eisenhower Foundation.
Ryan Poff is currently a PhD Candidate in History at TCU, with an area of focus on Japanese American Soldiers in World War II. He is also working as a Historian at the DPAA on the Korea Team. Ryan received his BA and MA in History at the University of Alabama, and has shared some of his expert insight on the DPAA and the memorialization of the Korean War.
